E-Invoice and MyInvois

E-invoice is the second largest family of question we get, and most of it is one sentence: there is no error message, so something must be broken. Usually nothing is broken — the document is queued.

Each answer is two or three sentences and a link. The page behind the link is the one that owns the explanation and the one that gets corrected when the product changes.

LHDN rejected it. Where do I find out why?

The rejection carries an LHDN error code, and the commonest root cause by far is an item with no e-Invoice classification. E-Invoice Validation Rules & Troubleshooting carries the real messages; Maintaining the Item Master is where the classification is set.

I finalised the invoice and nothing was submitted to LHDN.

It is almost certainly queued rather than stuck: documents wait in a pool and a scheduled run submits them, and no message is shown while they wait. E-Invoice Pools & Submission Routing explains the pools, and Understanding E-Invoice Statuses says how long each stage normally takes.

How do I set MyInvois up in the first place?

Through the MyInvois setup path — credentials, the intermediary relationship and the company details LHDN checks against. MyInvois Setup walks it, and What Malaysia Requires explains the obligation behind it.

What am I supposed to do between the 1st and the 7th?

That window is the monthly consolidation and submission cycle, and it has a running order. The Month-End E-Invoice Cycle sets out what to do on which day and what to check before the window closes.

I submitted a wrong invoice and LHDN has already validated it. Can I cancel?

Within 72 hours, yes, through a cancellation request; after that the correction is a credit note rather than a cancellation. Cancelling and Correcting a Validated E-Invoice walks both paths.

Which LHDN guideline version does this wiki follow?

It is stated explicitly, with the version and date, so you can tell whether a page predates a change LHDN has since made. See Which LHDN Guideline Version This Wiki Cites.

Do I have to issue an e-invoice for every counter sale?

No — counter receipts can be reported to LHDN as one consolidated e-invoice for the month under a General Public buyer, up to a value limit per document. Consolidated e-invoices explains the limit and what it cannot cover.

The buyer on the e-invoice is not the customer I billed. Is that wrong?

No, and it is deliberate: the buyer reported to LHDN does not have to be the account you billed, which is what makes counter sales and third-party buyers workable. The block is completed or corrected in the My E-Invoice Admin applet, not on the customer record.

The customer has no TIN. What do I send?

There are General TIN rules for exactly this, and which one applies depends on the buyer’s identity type. E-Invoice Validation Rules & Troubleshooting sets out the buyer identity formats and the General TIN cases.

MyInvois shows Valid but BigLedger shows Invalid.

The two systems hold separate status fields and BigLedger’s is written back to it, so they can disagree for a while — and a document can be genuinely valid at LHDN after a resubmission. Understanding E-Invoice Statuses explains each status and how to decide between waiting and acting.

A supplier sent us an e-invoice. What do we do with it?

Incoming supplier e-invoices arrive in their own screen and can be accepted or rejected within the LHDN window. Incoming Supplier E-Invoices walks it.
