Read the buyer's screen before you answer

You can look at what a GadgetSphere shopper is looking at, say what each of their three counters actually counts…

Step 1 — Know that In Queue is three situations wearing one number

You will stop reading a shopper's In Queue count as good news.

The storefront widget's Requested E-Invoices view with the four counters — All Invoices, In Queue, Validated, Validation Error — above the list

Step 2 — Know exactly what Validation Error means

You will treat that counter as precise, because it is.

Invalid

An e-invoice whose status came back Invalid

Step 3 — Know why they cannot simply correct it and ask again

You will know which side of the fence a fix sits on before you promise anything.

Invalid

A shopper whose e-invoice came back Invalid is genuinely stuck

Step 4 — Know the one case where they can help themselves

You will stop doing work the buyer could do faster, and know when their retry is pointless.

What you do
  1. Read the failure reason before you send the shopper back

Step 5 — Remember how little a guest can see

You will judge what a buyer is able to check before you ask them to check it.

Step 6 — Answer with the pool row in front of you

You will have a reply that is true the first time.

  • Start on Portal Request, then find the document by its number

Left and right arrows, or the space bar, move between slides; f is full screen and Esc leaves it. Clicking the left or right half of a slide pages it. Play and pause belong to you — nothing moves on by itself unless you tick the box above.
