The fields on a new company's E-Invoice tab that switch something on, and the four that do not

You can work down a new company's E-Invoice tab knowing which fields change what BigLedger does, which ones only record an intention…

The fields that change what happens

Step 1 — Start with the one field that is a gate

You will know which field is different in kind from all the others.

What this step names
  1. When a document is finalised
  2. BigLedger asks whether this company is enabled; if the answer is no
  3. The document is dropped there and then
  4. With no queue row
  5. No pool row
  6. No error

Step 2 — Recognise the block that is printed on every document

You will know why one company record can break a whole group.

What this step names
  1. The tax number
  2. Identity type and value
  3. Registration number
  4. Service tax number
  5. Industry code
  6. Business activity description

The fields that record rather than decide

Step 3 — Meet the fields that only record an intention

You will stop expecting two of these drop-downs to do anything.

What this step names
  1. Batch Line Logic offers by branch
  2. By document or by line
  3. No consolidation run consults it; which run your tenant gets is decided…

Step 4 — Leave the credentials block empty on purpose

You will not spend a morning on the MyInvois portal for nothing.

What you do
  1. Leave it blank

Step 5 — Learn the test that sorts the tab for you

You will be able to do this on any screen, not just this one.

What you do
  1. Ask of each field: if I change this and change nothing else…

The order to work in

Step 6 — Fill the tab in the order that fails safely

You have a sequence you can hand to somebody else.

  • Save, then finalise one small sale and watch it reach Valid before anybody else…

Valid

…and watch it reach Valid before anybody else in the company starts…

Left and right arrows, or the space bar, move between slides; f is full screen and Esc leaves it. Clicking the left or right half of a slide pages it. Play and pause belong to you — nothing moves on by itself unless you tick the box above.
