The layout itself

Step 1 — Know what you upload when you upload a layout

You will know what sits behind the word layout.

What this step names
  1. BigLedger fetches that file
  2. Compiles it on the spot
  3. Fills it with the document
  4. Returns a PDF

Step 2 — Upload each layout from the applet it prints for

Every layout you upload appears where people will look for it.

What you do
  1. Upload from the document's own applet: for sales invoices, open Sales Invoice, then Settings…
  2. Choose codes you will recognise in a list of thirty, such as SI-A4-KV…

Four moments, four rules

Step 3 — Name the four moments a layout is chosen

You will know which rule is at work when a layout looks wrong.

What this step names
  1. The dropdown is pre-selected with the branch's default for that document type
  2. Otherwise with the applet's fallback
  3. The format ticked Default on Printable Format Settings
  4. One setting for the whole account; with neither
  5. Nothing is selected
  6. The print fails before it reaches the server

Planning the layouts

Step 4 — Plan GadgetSphere's layouts before anybody uploads

You will have a plan to upload against.

What you do
  1. List each document type you print, then each look it needs
  2. Write the plan down in your own records as four columns: document type, company…
  3. Check each branch's settings against the plan…

Step 5 — Look for the e-invoice layout on the company

You will stop looking for the e-invoice layout on a branch.

What this step names
  1. The PDF your customer keeps
  2. The one carrying the QR code from the Inland Revenue Board
  3. LHDN
  4. Takes its layout from the company…
  5. Then E-Invoice Details
  6. Then Printable Format
