You can give each GadgetSphere branch its default layout and its header and footer text, keep one default per branch and document type…

The branch default

Step 1 — Give each branch its default layout

Pressing Print at GS-KV-01 opens with the right layout already chosen.

What you do
  1. Pick the format, SI-A4-KV for the Klang Valley branch, and save

Step 2 — Add the branch's header and footer text

The branch's own lines can appear on its documents.

What this step names
  1. The same branch default carries Header and Footer text
  2. Such as the branch's address
  3. The bank details a corporate customer should pay into

Step 3 — Keep one default per branch and document type

Every path that reads a branch default will find the same layout.

Testing the layouts

Step 4 — Print one of each and look

You will know the layouts work before a customer tells you they do not.

What you do
  1. Check the two e-mails separately
  2. Open the e-invoice PDF: it should be the company layout…
  3. Repeat at one branch of each style

Step 5 — Find the first place to look for three quiet failures

Each common layout failure has a first place to look.

Changing a layout

Step 6 — Change a layout without surprising anybody

A layout change will be a decision, not an accident.
