Follow these operational best practices to maintain production schedule reliability, minimize material waste, and ensure accurate manufacturing cost absorption.

1. Real-Time Shop Floor Material Issuance

  • Enforce Immediate WIP Issuance: Never issue raw materials verbally on the factory floor without logging the material transfer in the Manufacturing Operation Applet.
  • Log Component Scrap Immediately: Record raw material damage or trimming waste during operations to maintain accurate inventory balances.

2. Work Center Labor & Overhead Absorption

  • Daily Machine Hour Audits: Ensure machine operators log actual operational run hours and downtime reasons daily to prevent overhead absorption variances at month-end.
  • Regular BOM Audits: Reconcile standard Bill of Materials component quantities against actual shop floor consumption quarterly.
