Conversion Rates
The conversion rate says what a point is worth in money — for GadgetSphere, 100 GSPTS = RM 1.00.
It is read when a member redeems: POS General converts the points the cashier enters into a cash
value on the settlement line or the points-discount line, up to the member’s balance.
Where to do this
Membership Admin → PTS to CCY Config → + — see Classes, labels, currencies: Point Currency, Money Currency, Conversion Rate, Status. One active row per point currency and money currency.
Point-to-point. A PTS to PTS Config screen (point currency → point currency, rate, cross-over
flag) exists in the applet’s routes, but its menu entry is commented out; you cannot reach it
from the sidebar. The PTS CCY Module row carries the cross-over flag, and nothing on the menu lets
you set the rate between two currencies. Treat multi-currency conversion as unavailable until the
menu returns.
Decide before you set the rate
- Get the rate agreed once and leave it. Every redemption already recorded used the rate at the time; changing it changes what the outstanding balance is worth at the counter, and no report restates history.
- Round it so a cashier can say it in one sentence. “100 points is one ringgit” survives a busy
Saturday at
GS-KV-01; “847 points is ten ringgit” does not. - The rate is per money currency. A USD sale at GadgetSphere Distribution needs its own row or the member cannot redeem on it.
When it goes wrong
| Symptom | Cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Reward points not applied / points discount missing at POS | No active rate for the currency, or the Points Discount item is not set | PTS to CCY Config; POS Default Selection → Points Discount Item Code |
