Voucher Rewards
A voucher is a discrete instrument: a code or a serial the member presents, with its own value or treatment, dates and rules. Unlike a price-book rule it is not automatic, and unlike points it does not draw on a balance. GadgetSphere uses vouchers for the things a price book cannot express — a RM 50 apology after a delayed repair, a birthday gift, a launch-weekend code for online members.
Where to do this
- Define the voucher — type, value or treatment, rules, tickets — in Voucher Management.
- Sell it as stock, if it is a physical or serial-numbered voucher: an item of type Voucher in Doc Item Maintenance records voucher stock in and out.
- Redeem it at the counter: POS General offers
VOUCHERandCOUPONsettlement methods (per branch, in Settlement Method Settings) and accepts a coupon or voucher as a scanned line;POS_VOUCHER_INVENTORYtreats scanned vouchers as inventory. A rejected voucher at the counter means its redemption limit or daily limit is reached or its rule header is missing — the applet page’s troubleshooting row. - Give it on a birthday:
MEMBER_BIRTHDAY_GIFT_PROCESSORwithgift_type = VOUCHERassigns the vouchers listed invouchers_to_assignto members ofmember_class_guidson their birthday or in their birth month (MemberBirthdayGiftProcessorL58–L61). It is scheduled, not configured on a Membership Admin screen. - Report on it: the Sales Report applet’s Voucher Redemption report lists redeemed serials by date, code, amount, status and document.
Decide before you issue
- Settlement (a fixed face value that pays part of the bill) or discount (a treatment that reduces lines) — the type decides which rules and fields apply; see the applet page.
- Whether serials are needed. A code that anyone may enter is a campaign; a serial that one member holds is a gift, and needs tickets generated and assigned.
- Which branches and which website. The rules and website links a voucher can carry are on the applet page; decide them before the first ticket is generated.
What vouchers do not do
A voucher redemption does not touch the membership point tables. What the backend records for a voucher and its tickets is on the voucher applet page; the points pages of this module do not apply to it.
