Self-billed e-invoices: reporting what your supplier will not · presentation 4 of 6

The blanks that divert it, and the blanks that let it go out wrong

You can say what the mandatory-field check does to a self-billed document, recite the five supplier blanks that divert one into a pool…

Step 1 — Understand the check that decides everything

You know what has to be true before anything reaches LHDN.

What this step names
  1. The header must carry both parties' name
  2. Tax number
  3. Identity type and identity value; the supplier's industry code and business-activity description…
  4. City
  5. State; both contact numbers between eight and twenty characters…

Step 2 — Learn the five reasons a supplier diverts a document

You can read a diverted row and know which field to go and fix.

Step 3 — Know the two blanks that go to LHDN anyway

You will stop assuming that a document which passed the check is a document that is right.

What you do
  1. Watch the verdict on that one like any other

Step 4 — Deal with the line that has nothing to inherit

You have budgeted for the part of self-billing that actually takes time.

What this step names
  1. A self-billed line almost never does: a commission
  2. A licence fee
  3. A freight charge or a foreign subscription is an expense account
  4. Not a stock item
  5. There is no item behind it to inherit from

Step 5 — Watch one document through its four stages

You can answer "where is it?" without opening the admin applet at all.

Step 6 — Fix it in the pool, and fix it at the source

A diverted document moves and stops coming back.
